This is a question where different photographers may use different techniques, resulting in different methods. Personally, I rely on two unique ways to add color to an existing image, both of which are done using Photoshop techniques.
The Channel Mixer method provides a quick and easy way to improve color, although it may not match the quality of the “LAB method”. This technology is often compared to the famous Fuji Velvia transparent film because of its appearance.
The main advantage of this method is that it does not destroy, that is, it does not change or damage the pixels in your image. It uses layer processing, especially the channel combination processing layer.

The channel mixer allows you to adjust the output contributions from the red, blue and green channels to each output channel. In general, you can configure the following:
It is important to note that the sum of the three output channels always equals 100% for each output channel.
After using these adjustment layers, you will notice that the colors in the image become more saturated, often exceeding the capabilities of a simple saturation tool.
This method usually produces interesting results, but it is simpler than the channel mixer. This means adjusting the A and B curves when working in the LAB color space, which is different from the standard RGB color space.

The disadvantage of the method is its destructiveness; it cannot be used as a repair tool. To work in LAB mode, it is usually necessary to freeze the cells, although in some cases this may not be necessary. Be aware that switching between RGB and LAB and back can result in information loss, but running in 16-bit mode can help reduce this loss.
I personally like this method because it adjusts the color saturation without affecting the overall brightness. First, we need to convert our image into a LAB model, but since we have multiple layers, we need to create a duplicate to avoid blending.
You are now in LAB mode where you work with the L, a and b channels instead of red, green and blue. Add a curve adjustment layer and adjust the a and b channels. These channels represent color information from -128 to +128, with higher values indicating higher color values.
Make sure the curve is symmetrical to avoid discoloration. The numbers I’ve given are approximate, but any symmetrical S-curve will work, with a strong S-curve giving a more pronounced saturation effect.

By adjusting the opacity of the curves adjustment layer, you can control the intensity of the effect in your image. When you’re done editing, you can select the cells and copy the results back to the source file as new text.
If you think these two methods work, try recording the event. This eliminates the need to repeatedly configure parameters, adjust the workflow.

In the screenshot above, the gray areas show colors that are clipped and outside the palette for the Fuji Frontier and glossy paper combination. You can reduce or close the adjustment in these areas by using masking masks or by adjusting the opacity of the adjustment layer.
