Creating A Vintage Sepia Effect In Photoshop For Classic Photography – Many photographers grew up with beautiful vintage photos of their parents and grandparents. Faded black-and-white or sepia-toned photos that tell the story of long ago and distant times – there is something special about them even now! Vintage wedding photo albums contain so much memories and a sense of nostalgia that they have a certain appeal, especially for the old soul. To give the same sense of elegance and beauty as a vintage photo, wedding photographers today choose a vintage photo effect in Lightroom. This is a style that many couples love and may even demand.
Modern digital cameras have picture management systems that offer monochrome settings that can be applied to photos, but many wedding photographers choose to create a vintage photo effect in Lightroom instead.
Creating A Vintage Sepia Effect In Photoshop For Classic Photography
Lightroom makes it very easy to get a vintage effect on your photos! To begin, launch Lightroom on your computer and upload your wedding photos to the system. now-

To begin, select the image you want to use from your Lightroom catalog. Next, make sure you’re in the development module by selecting it from the module selector at the top right of the screen. Open the Develop module in Lightroom.
If you see unwanted dust particles in your image after opening the image, you can remove them. Don’t know how? Reading – REMOVE DUST IN A LIGHT ROOM.
To get the Vintage Photo Effect, you must first convert the color image to black and white. In the right panel column, open the HSL / Color / B&W panel by clicking the arrow to the right of the panel.
Click the Black and White tab in the panel to toggle the black and white conversion options. Your image will instantly switch from color to black and white.

Drag the individual color sliders left or right to create a custom black and white version of the image. Dragging the slider to the left darkens all areas of the black and white version that originally contained the slider’s color. Turning the knob to the right will brighten these areas. For example, dragging the red slider to the right will brighten any areas that originally contained red. If you drag the Green slider to the left, all areas containing green will become darker, and so on.
If you drag the slider and nothing happens, it’s because no part of your image contained that particular color. Each image is different, so keep an eye on your image as you drag each slider to gauge the results.
Then add a sepia tone to the wedding photo. You can do this by opening the Split Toning panel in Lightroom. In Lightroom 10 CC, this panel is now called Color Grading.
The split toning panel is divided into Highlights at the top and Shadows at the bottom. This allows you to set different colors for the lighter and darker parts of the image. In the Highlight section, select shade 40 for a nice orange-yellow. You can only really see the color when you increase the saturation. Set Saturation to 20.

Then, to add variation, use a slightly different Hue value of 45 in the Shadows section. Now increase the Saturation value to 50 for a more intense effect in the shadows.
In Lightroom 10 CC, the same steps above can be done in a panel called Color Gradation. The color correction panel is divided into midtone, highlights, and shadows. You can adjust the strength of all of them using the sliders below the colored wheels. You can adjust the color of the image by selecting a point on the wheel. It may take some tweaking, but try a few to see what looks best!
Now add grain and vignette to the image. You can do this by opening the Effects panel.
The effects panel contains three main effects that we can apply to an image. There’s Post-Crop Vinnetting on top, Grain in the middle, and a new Dehaze effect recently added to Lightroom.

Using these three sliders in the Grains section, you can adjust the amount, size, and roughness of the grain. For example, set the Amount to 50 and then set the Size and Roughness to 60. You can also experiment with the sliders to find the settings that work best for your wedding photo.
We’ll add a vignette using the Vignetting After Crop section of the Effects panel. The most important control here is Quantity. Dragging the Amount slider to the left darkens the corners of the image. This is usually the result you want. But for a vintage photo effect, you’d actually want the opposite. You should lighten the corners as if they have faded over time. To do this, drag the Quantity slider to the right. You can increase the amount value to +80. You can leave the other sliders at their default settings.
Next, you need to use some sliders in the Basic panel to reduce the overall contrast of the image to make it look even more like it has faded over time. To soften the highlights, first drag the highlight slider to the left. The further you drag, the darker you make the brighter parts of the image. You can lower the value of highlights up to -70. Then drag the Shadows slider to the right to lighten the darkest areas. You can increase your Shadow to +80.
Finally, drag the Brightness slider to the left to reduce the midtone contrast. The further you drag, the more you soften and blur the details of the image. Don’t drag too far or you’ll lose too much detail.

Launch Photoshop from your desktop or from the Start menu. Once opened, select File > Open and navigate to your image.
