Note that from what I’ve tested so far, this process is not perfect. You still need to adjust the imported brushes after converting from PS to CSP. But this process will transfer the brush tip material and the main brush information from one program to another. which will make it much faster than recreating and re-saving the brush materials.

Exporting your brushes from Photoshop is not a difficult process. For this example, I’ll save the Wet Media Brushes settings from Adobe Photoshop CS4. When you save brushes from Photoshop, you save any presets currently loaded in your Brushes window you save a brush set with 50 tools, when you convert that ABR file to CSP, you will load 50 brushes. Importing CSP devices is one of the easiest things you can do. There are two ways to do it, so I’ll share both here. The first way is the “long way”. it’s really just a few clicks, and the second is my preferred way to import tools that don’t come from the CSP Assets menu.

First, you need to decide which general category of tools you want to place your PS tools in. Then, in the subtools window, click the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner to open the menu as shown below, then click Import Subtool… “.

Navigate to where you saved your brushes and select the ABR file you want to import in. In the following screenshot you can see I selected the “Wet Media Brushes” ABR file created earlier.

Click the Import tool file, then hold down the mouse button and drag the file into the sub-tools window. When you are in the right place, the cursor will turn into a “+” sign, and the CSP devices will be imported. You can see the sumi-e created in the following screenshot department.
